CHESS FOR CURE

Chess for Cure is a nonprofit initiative to promote awareness and raise funds for women’s gynecologic cancer research while empowering female chess players.
SGVCC member Adelynne Yang, a high school senior and a research intern at City of Hope (COH) comprehensive cancer center, is working to expand Chess for Cure beyond its origins in Ohio by organizing the inaugural Chess for Cure SoCal Tournament on September 20-21, 2025, at DoubleTree by Hilton: 924 W Huntington Dr, Monrovia, CA 91016 (New Location!).
To commemorate Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month in September, and World Gynecologic Oncology Day on September 20, a portion of the tournament proceeds will support COH’s gynecologic cancer research as well as U.S. Women in Chess programs.
You can also support the cause by joining the fundraiser to directly benefit COH’s gynecologic cancer research.
