Join us on January 5, 2026, for a lecture by IM John Donaldson. He’ll be discussing his new book, “Inside the Mind of Bobby Fischer.” The lecture will feature over thirty rare photos of Fischer from his days as a child prodigy to World Champion. An author of over forty books, Donaldson earned his International Master title in 1983, had a peak USCF rating of 2605 and also earned two GM norms. He was the captain of 15 US Olympic teams and 8 World Team Championship entries. He was Director of the esteemed Mechanics’ Institute Chess Club in San Francisco from 1988 to 2018.
This is John’s second book on Bobby Fischer and his research and insights offer a unique perspective on the brilliant, but troubled, World Champion. The lecture will start at 7:00 pm and conclude by 10:00. It will also include a review of some rare Fischer games and a book signing will follow.
